September 25, 2020
This week Consistory met and discussed regathering indoors and in person for worship. We decided that we will regather in person and indoors for worship beginning on Sunday, October 4th. We are following CDC Guidelines so space will be limited as we social distance.
There will be 2 services beginning that day to help us maintain the social distancing required and accommodate and welcome as many as we can. Services will be at 9 am and 10 am. The 10 am will also be livestreamed on Facebook Live as always! Services will be 40 minutes or less. Please arrive close to 8:45 am and 9:50 am.
As per CDC guidelines we are only allowed a limited number of guests per service. Because of this, you will have to sign up in advance to reserve your spot(s) for each service. Each week a new e-sign-up sheet will be emailed to you. Please fill out the sign-up sheet as soon as possible.
The first of these sign-up sheets will arrive on or about Monday, September 28th. For those of you who do not have email please call Pastor Lou at 845-591-2016 to reserve your spot(s).
October 4th is World Communion Sunday and beginning worship in person that day would be appropriate as we commune together. Communion will be served using tiny individually prepacked cups and wafers.
When you arrive please enter through the red doors on Riverview Drive. Please come wearing face coverings. We will have extras at the entrance. You will need to wear face coverings throughout the service and whenever you are inside the building. In order to keep each other as safe as possible, no one will be admitted to the services without a face covering.
When you arrive, an usher will take your temperature, and your name and contact information, and ask you to sterilize your hands with hand sanitizer. Contact information has to be taken in the event we have to contact you should someone in attendance contracts Covid-19.
Ushers will also seat you so we can make sure seating is done quickly and safely.
Offering plates will be available in the front and rear of sanctuary to limit movement during the service. Please place offerings in plates upon entering or exiting the service.
Before the Benediction we will all take a moment to wipe down the areas we occupy with wipes provided us in our pews.
Singing is discouraged, unfortunately, in houses of worship but light humming is permissible (sorry, I’m just reinforcing the rules).
If you are not feeling well, have a fever, or know of any exposure to someone who may have Covid-19 please remain home and join us via FBL.
Following worship all will exit through the Fellowship Hall, so that the flow of traffic will be from the rear to the front of the sanctuary.
As we navigate through these new procedures, we will be prayerful and careful so that we can love one another by keeping each other safe. We know we all prefer not to cover our faces and to sing boldly once again, and hopefully we will be doing in the near future. Our regathering in person for worship will take adjusting and your partnership so we can keep the doors open and our worshipers safe.
And now the part you’ve been waiting for… If you can assist as an usher or in other way such as: reading scripture, assisting with Facebook Live and streaming, manning the computer for projection on screens, or in any other way please let me know.
If you have any questions, please ask and I will answer as soon as I am able to. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org and my cell is
